Buprenorphine for Pain

The VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Use of Opioids in the Management of Chronic Pain were updated in May 2022 suggesting the use of buprenorphine instead of full agonist opioids for patients receiving daily opioids for the treatment of chronic pain. The following presentation overviews the analgesic properties of buprenorphine and the decreased risk of overdose and misuse in comparison to full agonists.
