Emails will be sent out to all registrants 1-2 days prior to the Training with instructions for accessing the Plenary Sessions and will include instructions for accessing the Workshops based on your course selections during the registration process. IN-PERSON LOGISTICS - AUGUST 20 & 21 (ALL TIMES EDT)

We continue to have safety as a #1 priority therefore, this training will be part virtual (August 13-14, 2024) with interactive workshops via ZoomGov and a small in person training (August 20-21, 2024) for NCR locals in Bethesda, MD.

This year, the in-person portion of the 2024 Pain Care Skills Training will take place at the NIH Campus, Natcher Conference Center.

GETTING TO THE NIH CAMPUS

Visitor parking is challenging to find at NIH, so in-person attendees are encouraged to use public transportation such as the Metrorail subway system, which has a convenient stop (Medical Center) on the NIH campus. 

By Metro: Medical Center Station (Red Line) .3 Mile walk from the metro station to the meeting facility
By Taxi or Car Service: Drop off in front of NIH Gateway Visitor Center (see map and image below)
By Car: Please review the NIH’s Driving Directions. Parking is limited on NIH Campus; the MLP-11 underground parking garage is the primary visitor parking for the NIH campus (see map below) MLP-11 parking garage cost: $2 per hour for the first three hours, $12 maximum for the entire day.
By Shuttle: Attendees who are staying at The Bethesdan Hotel will have the option to take a shuttle from the Hotel to the NIH Campus. The Bethesdan Hotel is 0.8 miles (~2 minute walk + ~2 minute shuttle ride) from the Natcher Conference Center.

All meeting attendees should proceed to the Gateway Visitor Center (Building 66) upon arrival to the NIH Campus. The Gateway Visitor Center is ~5 minute walk from the parking garage and the Metro stop. If you are being dropped off by taxi or car service, the driver should take you through the “Kiss & Ride” drop off zone, directly in front of the Gateway Visitor Center.

Security Procedures to Access NIH Main Campus

All visitors must enter through the NIH Gateway Visitor Center (Building 66). Please allow adequate time (~15-20 minutes) to arrive at the NIH main campus and to get through security. You will need to obtain a visitor’s badge, visitors will be required to show one (1) form of identification (a government-issued photo ID-driver’s license, passport, green card, etc.) and to state the purpose of their visit. Please review the list of acceptable forms of identification needed for entry into NIH Campus BEFORE arriving on August 20 & 21, 2024.

Once you have completed the security check and obtained a visitor’s badge, you can either walk (5 minutes) or take the NIH Campus shuttle to the Natcher Conference Center (Building 45). 

Walking to Natcher from Gateway Visitor Center:

After obtaining your visitor badge and completing the security check, you will walk down the hall and either take the stairs or elevator that will lead you to the inside of the Campus. After exiting the NIH Gateway Visitor Center, you will follow the red path to the Natcher building (see map to the left).

Taking the NIH Campus Shuttle to Natcher from Gateway Visitor Center:

After obtaining your visitor badge and completing the security check, you will walk down the hall and either take the stairs or elevator that will lead you to the inside of the Campus. After exiting the NIH Gateway Visitor Center, you will head to the Campus Shuttle Stop referenced in the map to the left. The NIH Campus Shuttle schedule should be referenced before arriving onsite.

Lunch Options

The cafeteria at the Natcher Conference Center will be open and available to attendees from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Different food options will be available by time of day:

    • 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM – Hot & cold beverages, on-the-go breakfast/snack options (yogurt, pastries, snacks, etc.)
    • 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM – Hot weigh & pay options, salads, sandwiches, sushi

More food options are available on campus outside of the Natcher Conference Center.

Health & Safety

Risk measures will be taken per CDC guidance for the location and date of the training.

  • Masks will be made available.
  • Instructor preferences will be enforced regarding masks.
